
Know Before You Go: Attending the Championships
We can't wait to welcome you to Alexander Stadium for the European Athletics Championships.
To ensure you have the best time possible, please take a few minutes to read the below venue guide.
Travel to the stadium

To plan your journey to Alexander Stadium, please see our Travel information.
Arriving at the stadium

The gates to the stadium will open two hours before the session start time, allowing plenty of time to soak up the atmosphere, make the most of our photo opportunities and so you can take part in the on-site activities.
Search and Bag Policies

Your safety and security are our number one priority.
Please minimise the number of possessions you bring with you to the event. Our security provisions will include bag and body searches. Please allow extra time to get to the venue.
Express lanes for people without bags will be available.
The last permitted entrance into the venue will be 45 minutes before the end of each session.
There will be a police and security presence at the event as we work closely with our agencies and partners to ensure the safety and security of those attending.
We remind you to always remain vigilant and report anything which causes you any concern immediately to the nearest member of staff.
If you have a medical condition that requires you to bring in items which contravenes our bag and restricted items policy, please complete a medical exemption form.
Activities

As well as world-class athletics, there will be lots of different activities to enjoy around the stadium, so be sure to arrive in plenty of time to make the most of what’s on offer.
Information Point

Our friendly team will be on hand at the Information Point inside the stadium to help with any enquiries you have.
The Information Point is also the home to our family rest area, available to use at any time during the session, should you require it. Pram, pushchair and wheelchair storage will also be located a short distance from the Information Point and can be left at your own risk.
Food and Drink

A range of food and drink options will be available to purchase inside the venue.
Spectators with special dietary requirements or young children may prefer to bring a small packed lunch for personal consumption.
Water refills

Spectators are allowed to bring water bottles (500ml and under) into the stadium. Free water refill stations are available.
Refillable bottles and souvenir bottles will also be available to purchase at the stadium.
Birmingham 2026 is committed to reducing the amount of single use plastic waste created by the event.
Prohibited and restricted items

Bag Policy

Please travel light; large bags or luggage will not be permitted into the venue.
If you need to bring a bag with you, please ensure that it is small enough to store under your seat. Small handbags and rucksacks no larger than A3 (29.7cm x 42cm) will be allowed. There are no bag or luggage storage areas at the stadium.
If you have a medical condition that requires you to bring in items which contravenes our bag and restricted items policy, please complete a medical exemption form.
Spectator Etiquette

Please be respectful of those around you by ensuring that you do not obstruct their view or cause any unnecessary inconvenience.
Please keep noise to a minimum during track starts and always respect the athletes.
Baby Changing Facilities

Baby Changing Facilities are available at the Alexander Stadium. Simply ask one of the stewarding or volunteer team for the closest baby change location to your seat.
First Aid

First aid rooms are available inside the Alexander Stadium. They are located near block 108 in the West Stand and near Block 126 in the East Stand.
Lift

There is lift access to the upper tier of the West Stand. If you require access, please speak to our stewarding or volunteer team on site.
Lost and Found Property

Please report all lost or found property to the nearest member of staff at Alexander Stadium. If you are no longer at the venue, please email our customer services team at Birmingham26@athleticventures.co.uk.
Any found items will be kept for two weeks, before being discarded. Alexander Stadium is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Any lost items will be handed into the Information Point on the South Plaza during the session.
If not claimed all items will be moved to the West Stand reception when the session end.
Cashless Event

The stadium is a cashless venue, making purchases quick and easy. Food, drink, merchandise and other items can be paid for using debit or credit cards, as well as accepted contactless payment methods. Please note that cash payments will not be accepted.
